Columbia Cornell Obesity Medicine

Columbia Cornell Obesity Medicine (CCOM) is dedicated to training physicians in the rapidly evolving field of obesity medicine. We are an American Board of Obesity Medicine(link is external and opens in a new window) (ABOM) partner organization. Physicians attend our courses annually to fulfill the ABOM credit requirements needed to qualify for the obesity board exam. These requirements include a minimum of 60 CME credits in the field of obesity and at least 30 ABOM-designated GROUP ONE credits. The credits obtained from our obesity medicine courses are considered ABOM GROUP ONE credits.

Live-Remote Review for the Obesity Medicine Certification Exam Course

About Our Courses

Columbia Cornell Obesity Medicine offers three courses each year:

  • Obesity: Etiology, Prevention, and Treatment
    • This course is delivered in person and via live remote each spring and is subsequently available on demand. It always provides 30+ credits.
  • Obesity: Additional Topics for Advanced Study
    • This course is offered only on demand and is designed to complement the Etiology, Prevention, and Treatment course. It always provides 30+ credits.
  • Review for the Obesity Certification Exam
    • This course is available live remote during the summer and is also subsequently offered on demand. It is a one-day course and generally awards 8 - 10 credits.

On-demand course package options combine two or all of the courses listed above, allowing you to complete all 60 CME credits needed to sit for the obesity board exam. Course packages are updated annually.

Please note that for past CCOM course participants, our Review for the Obesity Certification Exam course costs the same whether purchased individually or as part of a course package. The pricing for live remote and on-demand options is also uniform.

Our on-demand courses expire two years after their release, and course release and expiration dates are provided on the individual course websites. Participants must review the course materials and claim CME credits before expiration. Once a course expires, those who have completed it will still have access to the course materials for an additional 36 months. Please note that course videos can only be viewed on our platform, but you may download the course lecture PDFs.
