My story at Columbia began with a phone call from Dr. Sharon Akabas to notify me that I had been accepted into the IHN MS Program. I applied to the IHN because I really valued the research component of the MS program. I felt that I needed more experience in benchtop research before I could progress into a PhD program. The IHN provided me with that experience and then some. The MS program offers you exactly what you put in to it. For me, that meant putting my head down and focusing on doing my best to reach every goal. My time at the IHN is and always will be a critical point in my life. It propelled me to where I am today, and provided me with so many different and unique tools to continue growing as both an individual and a scientist.
What is growing in your field today?
Automation of standard lab assays to free up time for scientist to do other research activities. Essentially taking scientific workflows and building a workcell to automate portions of, or the whole process.
